Establishing Virtue
Establishing Virtue
Read Proverbs 31
Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is more precious than rubies. Her husband can trust her, and she will greatly enrich his life. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.
Proverbs 31:10-12
From this proverb, we see the qualities of a virtuous woman: strong, trustworthy, and supportive of her husband. Next, we may reasonably ask, “How did she acquire these virtues?” Wives who take after this model spend time developing their relationship with God. Virtue flows naturally from their lives as a result of this personal time in prayer and God’s Word.
Accordingly, we gain insight into the health of our marriages by examining the level of intimacy we share with God. Strength and trust must first be developed with God before they can be fully demonstrated with our spouses.
Many times, when our relationship with our spouse begins to falter, we have really wavered in our dedication to God. We then fight an uphill battle to save our marriage. By first valuing our relationship with God, we acquire tools to maintain our relationship with our spouse.
A WORD FOR TODAY
