Building Plans
Read Proverbs 24
A house is built by wisdom and becomes strong through good sense. Through knowledge its rooms are filled with all sorts of precious riches and valuables.
Proverbs 24:3-4
Substitute any number of words for “house” in this proverb, and you will get the idea of the writer’s intent. Consider how we build our “home,” our “life,” our “business,” our “church”; how we set our “goals”; make our “decisions.” In others words, anything we build in this life should be based on a foundation of wisdom, good sense, and knowledge. We build wisely by understanding God’s direction and guidance. We develop good sense when we use our mind and experiences to think through our options.
Through accumulated knowledge, God helps us take what we have learned about the particular situation or decision and avoid others’ mistakes. When we make use of these God-given directions, we can build a home, life, or business that is valuable to all—but mostly to God, for it will then be able to accomplish his will in the world. When God is the master builder, we can be sure what we are building is part of eternity.
A WORD FOR TODAY
Working with God—the perfect business plan.
Today, Lord, as the architect of my life, take the plans I’ve tried to make and become my master builder.
