A Reliable Guide

Read Proverbs 20

The LORD directs our steps, so why try to understand everything along the way?

Proverbs 20:24

When we go to a foreign country for the first time, the changes can be overwhelming. Besides the differences in language and currency, cultural differences may catch us unawares. At those times, knowledgeable and reliable guides are worth their weight in gold.

This principle can be seen in all of life. If we are honest, we can all admit to experiencing moments when we are simply overwhelmed. The weights and concerns of this life can crush us beneath their mercilessly relentless load. But Jesus told us that he would always be with us (Matthew 28:20); that he would send the Spirit to guide us into all truth (John 16:13); and that we have no need to fear, for our Father cares for us (Luke 12:6-7). We should always turn to him as our guide, for then we can walk in confidence that he is directing our steps.

Trust God and take steps.

Today, Lord, help me to look to you as my guide. Incite in me a passion to pursue your path as the way of ultimate satisfaction and joy.
