Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.

Proverbs 2:11

Read any book on success and the number one ingredient is having a plan. Major corporations do not achieve success through procrastination, households cannot run smoothly without organization, and students cannot fully apply themselves unless they make wise use of their time. To achieve our goals, we need to have a plan.

God’s will for us is to reach our full potential in life, whatever that may be. Having a map is essential if we want to reach that goal. However, the second part of this verse reminds us that having a plan is not the end of the matter. God is in control of everything. Only a firm understanding of who we serve will enable us to avoid the pitfalls of success, whether in business or in ministry. All our planning is for nothing if the goal is not part of God’s plan.

Today, Lord, as I make my plans, help me to remember that you are in control and that my ultimate goal in life is to glorify you. Guide my paths today and speak to me about the direction I should go.
