The Lord Stands Beside Us

I have heard the many rumors about me. They call me “The Man Who Lives in Terror.” They threaten, “If you say anything, we will report it.” Even my old friends are watching me, waiting for a fatal slip. “He will trap himself,” they say, “and then we will get our revenge on him.”

Jeremiah 20:10-13

For most of us, someone or something has struck fear in our heart at some point in our life. Those of us who had no one to stand up for us probably longed for someone to come to our rescue and make everything right. Jeremiah, who was surrounded by enemies, had such a hero. “The LORD stands beside me like a great warrior. Before him my persecutors will stumble. They cannot defeat me.” God is ready to come to the aid of his children. No matter how big the enemy, he “stands beside [us] like a great warrior.”

What difficulty are you facing? Don’t try to handle it all by yourself. Call upon the Lord, and he will come and help you.
