The Joys Of Those Who Take Refuge In Him
The Joys of Those Who Take Refuge in Him
Taste and see that the LORD is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!
Fear the LORD, you his godly people,
for those who fear him will have all they need.
Even strong young lions sometimes go hungry,
but those who trust in the LORD will lack no good thing.
Psalm 34:8-10
David invites us all to “taste and see that the LORD is good.” David had recently seen God’s goodness at work in his life when he wrote this prayer. Even though King Saul had sought David’s death and Abimelech was considering whether he should execute David, God had spared David’s life by allowing him to escape from them both. David’s heart was bursting with joy because he had just experienced God’s power at work in his life. Yet in his celebration, he didn’t forget to invite others to find their joy in God as well—to “taste and see that the Lord is good.”
How has God shown his goodness to you? What good things has God given you? Let David’s prayer inspire you to find joy in the Lord.
- Dear Lord, I have tasted and seen that you are good. Thank you for providing for me . . .
