Thanksgiving For God’s Promises

King David went in and sat before the LORD and prayed, “Who am I, O Sovereign LORD, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? And now, Sovereign LORD, in addition to everything else, you speak of giving your servant a lasting dynasty! Do you deal with everyone this way, O Sovereign LORD?

2 Samuel 7:18-22

“Who am I that you have brought me this far?” This was David’s response to God after hearing that the Lord was going to make his family into an eternal dynasty. God’s plans for David were impressive—more than David could ever imagine. Not only would David’s descendants reign as kings over the nation, but his family dynasty would last throughout eternity as well. The eternal King of kings, Jesus Christ himself, would one day come from David’s royal line. There was nothing that David could have done to deserve such an honor. Such a wonderful promise came only from God’s grace.
