The Elders’ Praise For God

The twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever). And they lay their crowns before the throne and say,

“You are worthy, O Lord our God,

to receive glory and honor and power.

For you created all things,

and they exist because you created what you pleased.”

Revelation 4:10-11

Some people may have the opportunity to see the riches of a king’s palace, but none of us can fully imagine what God’s throne room must be like. Revelation provides us with a glimpse of it—a brilliant throne made of gemstones, a shiny sea of crystal-like glass, and a rainbow-like glow filling the entire place. Yet, what is central to John’s description of God’s throne room is the people’s praise for God. Elders, angelic beings, and exotic living beings join their voices in an unending chorus glorifying God and declaring that the entire universe exists because he created what he pleased.

If the universe exists to please God, our part is clear. We should give God the adoration he deserves. Join your voice with the heavenly host today in words of praise.
