Thanks For A Bountiful Harvest

Thanks for a Bountiful Harvest

You crown the year with a bountiful harvest;

even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.

The grasslands of the wilderness become a lush pasture,

and the hillsides blossom with joy.

The meadows are clothed with flocks of sheep,

and the valleys are carpeted with grain.

They all shout and sing for joy!

Psalm 65:11-13

For farmers, harvest is a time to rejoice. The long hours of backbreaking work in the fields finally bear fruit. The acres burst forth with grain; the limbs of trees become weighed down with fruit. It is a time to rejoice in what God has provided, to sing of his goodness. In this prayer, David thanked God for all his blessings on Israel—the meadows were filled with sheep; the pastures were lush; and the fields were filled with grain. The land was so blessed by God that it appeared to be shouting out in joy.

In this month of thanksgiving, we ought to thank the Lord for our harvests of love, friendships, blessing, protection, and joy. Sing a song of praise to God today for his goodness to you.

  • Dear Lord, you have crowned the year with a bountiful harvest . . .
