Spiritual Blessings

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ. Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.

Ephesians 1:3-4

Although penned in prison, Paul’s letter to the Ephesians is one of encouragement. Ephesus was one of the more prominent and strong churches that Paul established on an earlier missionary journey. Paul encouraged this church to praise God for the abundance of blessings they were enjoying. Paul lifted their eyes beyond this world toward heaven for the spiritual blessings God had provided for them.

In like manner, we, too, should praise God for all the spiritual blessings he has given us—our salvation, our inheritance in heaven, our promised new bodies. As you begin to pray today, thank God for the eternal blessings you can’t see—joy, inner peace, and hope. Praise our gracious God, from whom our spiritual blessings flow.
