Singing Praises To Our Great King

Singing Praises to Our Great King

Come, let us sing to the LORD!

Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.

Let us come to him with thanksgiving.

Let us sing psalms of praise to him.

For the LORD is a great God,

the great King above all gods.

He holds in his hands the depths of the earth

and the mightiest mountains.

The sea belongs to him, for he made it.

His hands formed the dry land, too.

Psalm 95:1-5

Throughout history, kings and princes often boasted of their power by drawing attention to such things as their palace and the extent of their land. This prayer draws attention to the natural monuments that point to God’s power—immovable mountains, vast seas, and rich plains. The boundaries of God’s kingdom are unmatched—he owns “the depths of the earth” and “the mightiest mountains,” for he formed it out of nothing in the first place! Our God existed before this earthly kingdom was created to proclaim his greatness. No power on this earth can compare to our Creator.

Think about the natural monuments you have seen that proclaim God’s power. Join your voice with all his faithful people in heartfelt praise.

  • O Lord, I raise my voice in praise to you, for you are the great King . . .
