Singing Of God’s Glorious Deeds

Singing of God’s Glorious Deeds

Let the whole earth sing to the LORD!

Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.

Publish his glorious deeds among the nations.

Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.

Great is the LORD! He is most worthy of praise!

He is to be feared above all gods.

1 Chronicles 16:23-25

Sometimes on beautiful spring days, with the glory of renewal evident all around us, we long to blend our expressions of praise with something much larger than ourselves. This prayer of David captured this same sentiment: “Let the whole earth sing to the LORD!” For David, every day was an occasion to proclaim the good news of salvation and God’s amazing deeds. But this prayer was written for a special celebration: when David brought the ark of God into the special tent he had prepared for it. Especially on such occasions it was appropriate to declare God’s greatness with much enthusiasm.

Imagine, for a moment, a whole gathering of believers, plus all of nature for miles around, united in a prayer of praise to God. What would it sound like? What words would you use to praise your Lord?

  • O Lord, let the whole earth sing praises to you . . .
