Reminding Ourselves Of God’s Greatness

Reminding Ourselves of God’s Greatness

No pagan god is like you, O Lord.

None can do what you do!

All the nations you made

will come and bow before you, Lord;

they will praise your holy name.

For you are great and perform wonderful deeds.

You alone are God.

Psalm 86:8-10

Sometimes our prayers can become so punctuated with the word help, so focused on the dangers and trials, that we overlook the one we are imploring. David avoided this error. He recognized that his God was greater than all others, and the Lord had demonstrated his miraculous power in countless ways. David foresaw a day when all the nations, not just the Israelites, would acknowledge the sovereignty of God Almighty. He alone is God.

Let us lift our eyes from the problems at hand to our triumphant King. Place the difficulties that are bothering you today before your infinite, wonder-working God.

  • O Lord, you are great and perform wonderful deeds. You alone are God . . .
