Rejoicing Over Our Inheritance
Rejoicing over Our Inheritance
I said to the LORD, “You are my Master!
Every good thing I have comes from you.” . . .
LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing.
You guard all that is mine.
The land you have given me is a pleasant land.
What a wonderful inheritance!
Psalm 16:2, 5-6
We’ve all heard of families who are divided forever because they disagreed over an inheritance. Brothers and sisters who once loved each other spend the rest of their lives greedily fighting to protect what they have inherited from their parents, while others go to their grave hating and resenting their siblings who got a bigger share than they did. How refreshing to hear David say to the Lord, “The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance!”
Are we satisfied with what the Lord has given us, no matter how great or small? Can you say—and really mean it—“I have you, Lord, and that’s enough”? List in your mind all God has given to you. Then rejoice over your inheritance, over all the good things God has given you.
- Dear Lord, you alone are my inheritance. Every good thing I have comes from you . . .
