Rejoicing Over Eternal Blessings

O my God, I have been bold enough to pray to you because you have revealed to your servant that you will build a house for him—a dynasty of kings! For you are God, O LORD. And you have promised these good things to your servant. And now, it has pleased you to bless the house of your servant, so that it will continue forever before you. For when you grant a blessing, O LORD, it is an eternal blessing!

1 Chronicles 17:25-27

One evening at the end of his reign, God spoke to David through a prophet and promised him a dynasty of kings. David’s descendants would reign as kings forever and forever. David’s immediate response to such wonderful news was to thank God. David shouted a resounding “yes” to God’s marvelous promise. God’s ultimate fulfillment of this promise came through his Son, Jesus Christ, who was rightfully a descendant of David.

Through Jesus, we now have eternal blessings as well. We serve an everlasting King, who desires to bless us with all his riches. In this month when we focus on the birth of our Savior, thank God for the eternal blessings you have in Jesus Christ, God’s Son.
