Recognizing That God Is At Work

Recognizing That God Is at Work

The humble will see their God at work and be glad.

Let all who seek God’s help be encouraged.

For the LORD hears the cries of the needy;

he does not despise his imprisoned people.

Praise him, O heaven and earth,

the seas and all that move in them.

Psalm 69:32-34

Sometimes when we are in our deepest depression, we despair of anyone hearing our cries for help. David felt this way. His enemies had surrounded him and were even gloating over him. Yet toward the end of this prayer, David reminded himself that God does hear “the cries of the needy.” He does work out his good plan for his people. One day, the humble will rejoice in the Lord’s work. David knew the Lord heard his cries and would answer him. In this he could rejoice.

Sometime you may find your joy being sapped away by a difficult situation. Remind yourself of God’s ability to hear your cry for help. Look for ways God is already working in your church and in your community. “The humble will see their God at work and be glad.”

  • Dear God, I am glad you are at work in this world . . .
