Recalling God’s Wonderful Deeds

Recalling God’s Wonderful Deeds

I recall all you have done, O LORD;

I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago.

They are constantly in my thoughts.

I cannot stop thinking about your mighty works.

O God, your ways are holy.

Is there any god as mighty as you?

You are the God of great wonders!

You demonstrate your awesome power among the nations.

By your strong arm, you redeemed your people,

the descendants of Jacob and Joseph.

Psalm 77:11-15

How pleasurable it is to recall with our friends and loved ones those amusing and fun experiences we’ve shared together! Psalm 77 helps us remember God’s wonderful works and praise him for them. But the writer of this psalm wasn’t simply remembering God’s deeds for fun. It was a necessity for him. Asaph was in trouble and desperately needed God’s help. Recalling the ways God had miraculously and powerfully intervened in the lives of the Israelites in the past helped to reassure him that God would act in his distressing situation as well.

Remind yourself of what God did for his people long ago. Then look back on your own life and find the ways God has worked.

  • Almighty Lord, I recall all you have done for me . . .
