Praising The One Who Satisfies

Praising the One Who Satisfies

Let them praise the LORD for his great love

and for the wonderful things he has done for them.

For he satisfies the thirsty

and fills the hungry with good things.

Psalm 107:8-9

The words of this psalm were originally recited at one of Israel’s religious festivals by those who knew what it was like to hunger and thirst, for it was spoken by those who had returned from exile in Babylon. These people spoke from experience of God’s “great love,” and they had seen him provide for his people in the midst of terrible trouble.

In a very small way, many of us can relate to the feelings of those exiles. Our lives are often filled with great need—whether physical, spiritual, emotional, or financial. Whatever needs you have now, express them to God. Ask him for the deep satisfaction that he alone can bring to each of your longings.

  • Dear Lord, I depend on you to meet my needs . . .
