Praising God’s Trust-worthiness

Praising God’s Trust-worthiness

Let the godly sing for joy to the LORD;

for it is fitting for the pure to praise him.

Praise the LORD with melodies on the lyre;

make music for him on the ten-stringed harp.

Sing a new song of praise to him;

play skillfully on the harp, and sing with joy.

For the word of the LORD holds true,

and we can trust everything he does.

He loves whatever is just and good;

the unfailing love of the LORD fills the earth.

Psalm 33:1-5

What does it mean to be trustworthy and true? In a society that insists that all truth is relative, many people have given up looking for truth, much less basing their lives on it. But Scripture declares that there is something that is completely true—no matter what angle you look at it, no matter what perspective you come from. God and his Word will always remain true. That facet of God’s character is what this psalm celebrates. It encourages believers everywhere to shout for joy, for their lives are securely established on God’s eternal truths.

Take a moment to reflect on how few things are certain in this world and how much change is a normal part of life. Then think about how God and his Word are forever true, and give him praise that we can trust everything he does.

  • Dear God, your Word holds true, and I can trust everything you do . . .
