Praise To The God Who Satisfies

Praise to the God Who Satisfies

I have seen you in your sanctuary

and gazed upon your power and glory.

Your unfailing love is better than life itself;

how I praise you!

I will praise you as long as I live,

lifting up my hands to you in prayer.

You satisfy me more than the richest feast.

I will praise you with songs of joy.

Psalm 63:2-5

Many of us put a great deal of time and effort into the pursuit of a rather elusive goal: fulfillment. We seek it in our work, in our relationships, and in our possessions. But our search for fulfillment in these areas often turns up empty. We are constantly disappointed. In this prayer, however, David described to God a different type of search that leads to ultimate fulfillment. Having “gazed upon” God’s power and glory, he had found a purpose and meaning for his life. God’s love was better than life itself! That’s why David stayed up at night meditating on God and honoring and praising him.

May our prayers reflect our excitement to come into the Lord’s presence and the satisfaction we experience from his love.

  • O God, your unfailing love is better than life itself . . .
