Praise For God’s Victory

In that day you will sing:

“I will praise you, O LORD!

You were angry with me, but not any more.

Now you comfort me.

See, God has come to save me.

I will trust in him and not be afraid.

The LORD GOD is my strength and my song;

he has given me victory.”

Isaiah 12:1-2

These verses, which echo Moses’ praise in Exodus 15:2, contain the collective prayer that will issue from the lips of God’s people when Christ reigns over the earth forever. God’s people will greet Christ with a short prayer of praise that aptly describes their marvelous relationship with him. Though once angry at the sin of his people, God will comfort them. He won’t come to judge the remnant but to save them. What a joy it is to know that, though we deserve judgment, we do not have to live in fear of God—our Savior.

Today, our prayers of praise are linked with all believers who have gone before us and all who will follow us. This praise is the cry of the redeemed—those who realize that God was willing to sacrifice his own Son in order to heal and save them. Join your voice in this prayer today.
