Praise For God’s Might

The floods have risen up, O LORD.

The floods have roared like thunder;

the floods have lifted their pounding waves.

But mightier than the violent raging of the seas,

mightier than the breakers on the shore—

the LORD above is mightier than these!

Your royal laws cannot be changed.

Your reign, O LORD, is holy forever and ever.

Psalm 93:3-5

People throughout the ages have admired God’s handiwork when they come to the coast. There, angry, churning ocean waves break violently upon the cliffs and shoals of a shoreline, displaying the great power of these immense bodies of water. Yet, as great as these forces may be, the power of the Creator exceeds any forces found in nature. The energy found in roaring ocean waves, violent earthquakes, or volcanic eruptions can’t compare to God’s strength.

If God’s power exceeds these natural forces, he certainly can handle our troubles. Don’t allow the deafening roar of discouraging circumstances to disrupt your confidence in God’s power. As you pray today, remember that God is much mightier than those waves.
