Praise For Accomplishments

LORD, you will grant us peace;

all we have accomplished is really from you.

O LORD our God, others have ruled us,

but you alone are the one we worship.

Those we served before are dead and gone.

Their departed spirits will never return!

You attacked them and destroyed them,

and they are long forgotten.

O Lord, you have made our nation great;

yes, you have made us great.

You have extended our borders,

and we give you the glory!

Isaiah 26:12-15

Whether it involves hitting home runs or outrunning an opponent, competitors do what’s necessary to win. Some athletes take personal credit for their feats, declaring that success came only from their diligence and determination. Today’s prayer offers a different attitude about who gets the credit. Isaiah prophesied that one day God’s people would be victorious—but only because of what God would do for them. Instead of lauding the people for their victory, Isaiah praised God: “All we have accomplished is really from you.”

What accomplishments have you experienced within the last year? Today, acknowledge that it was God who enabled you to achieve those goals. Worship him for what he has done.
