Our Lives Are In God’s Hands

Come and see what our God has done,

what awesome miracles he performs for people!

He made a dry path through the Red Sea,

and his people went across on foot.

There we rejoiced in him.

For by his great power he rules forever.

He watches every movement of the nations;

let no rebel rise in defiance.

Let the whole world bless our God

and loudly sing his praises.

Our lives are in his hands,

and he keeps our feet from stumbling.

Psalm 66:5-9

Some of the prayers in the Psalms are proclamations shouted from the place of worship for all the faithful to hear. The author of this prayer invites everyone to celebrate God and his care for his people: “Let the whole world bless our God and loudly sing his praises.” He has performed miracles for his people. By his great power, he rules forever. At the right time, the whole world will bless our God, for he holds everyone in his hands—yes, even our lives are in his loving hands. He keeps our feet from stumbling. God is worthy of our praise.

Let us join our voices with his faithful people from the past, praising him for who he is and trusting him with our lives. Thank him for keeping you from stumbling.
