Committing Our Troubles To God

O LORD, God of my salvation,

I cry out to you by day.

I come to you at night.

Now hear my prayer;

listen to my cry.

For my life is full of troubles,

and death draws near.

I am as good as dead,

like a strong man with no strength left.

Psalm 88:1-4

Troubles, trials, and difficulties can be disheartening. And for the majority of us, life is full of troubles. Heman, the author of this prayer, knew what hardship was. He had spent days and nights crying to God about his difficulties. Heman wasn’t afraid to admit his predicament, to describe his hardships, and to cry out to God for help. And though God had not rescued Heman since he first began calling out to him, Heman still prayed, looking to God for help.

When we’re surrounded by troubles and difficulties, we need to follow the example of Heman and continually bring our concerns to God, for God will answer in his perfect timing.
