No Record Of Sins

Hear my cry, O Lord.

Pay attention to my prayer.

LORD, if you kept a record of our sins,

who, O Lord, could ever survive?

But you offer forgiveness,

that we might learn to fear you.

I am counting on the LORD;

yes, I am counting on him.

I have put my hope in his word.

I long for the Lord

more than sentries long for the dawn,

yes, more than sentries long for the dawn.

Psalm 130:2-6

Even those with good financial records don’t want to go through the ordeal of a tax audit. They don’t want someone scrutinizing their entire financial life and demanding an answer for every tax receipt. The psalmist rejoiced that God didn’t keep a record of his wrongs. What a relief to know that God wouldn’t ask him to account for every sin he had committed! God forgives us if we repent of our sin—no record of wrongs, no accounting needed. This should fill us with wonder and gratitude. God is waiting to hear from us, to forgive, and to restore.

Thank God today for not keeping a record of your sins.
