God Does As He Wishes

God Does as He Wishes

Not to us, O LORD, not to us,

but to your name goes all the glory

for your unfailing love and faithfulness.

Why let the nations say,

“Where is their God?”

Our God is in the heavens,

and he does as he wishes.

Psalm 115:1-3

In the cycle of the growing seasons, June is often the waiting time. The crops have been planted, the spring rains have fallen, and fall’s bounty is now in God’s hands. Often the waiting time brings questions. Will the crops grow? Will God provide for us? On a global scale, as history trudges on and we await Christ’s return, similar questions may arise. People don’t see the results yet, so they begin to doubt. But God will not be held accountable to them, nor will he be rushed into accomplishing his plans. God has given people abundant reasons to trust him, and he does not need to prove himself again and again.

Instead of questioning, our response should be, “Your will be done. May your plans be accomplished on earth, and may all the glory go to you.”

  • Heavenly Father, you do as you wish. Help me to trust you . . .
