Fixing Our Thoughts On God

Everyone in the land of Judah will sing this song:

Our city is strong!

We are surrounded by the walls of God’s salvation.

Open the gates to all who are righteous;

allow the faithful to enter.

You will keep in perfect peace

all who trust in you,

all whose thoughts are fixed on you!

Trust in the LORD always,

for the LORD GOD is the eternal Rock.

Isaiah 26:1-4

We all want to be secure—to feel safe from the attacks of strangers and enemies. In Israel, security meant living in a city with strong walls to keep out invaders. In this prayer of praise, believers proclaim that their security is in the Lord. While a stone wall may one day fall to the ground, God will be the Protector and the Savior of the righteous forever. Who or what should believers fear? Nothing, for our future is secure, and this gives us peace of mind.

Fix your thoughts on your almighty God, as this prayer instructs all of us to do. Reaffirm your trust in God today, and know the peace that such trust brings.
