Crying Out To The Lord

Crying Out to the Lord

I cry out to the LORD;

I plead for the LORD’s mercy.

I pour out my complaints before him

and tell him all my troubles.

When I am overwhelmed,

you alone know the way I should turn.

Wherever I go,

my enemies have set traps for me.

I look for someone to come and help me,

but no one gives me a passing thought!

No one will help me;

no one cares a bit what happens to me.

Psalm 142:1-4

Have you ever been overwhelmed by your troubles and uncertain which way you should turn? Wherever David went, his enemies set traps for him. He searched for someone to help him, but no one gave him a passing thought. No one would help him. No one cared a bit about what was happening to him. Sound familiar? Sometimes we need to vent our frustrations about a distressing situation that has no apparent solution. Our lament is, “Everyone is against me. No one appreciates me. No one cares.”

When you’re feeling discouraged and low, seek the Lord. Pour out your complaints before him, and tell him all your troubles. God is big enough for your problems. He can show you the way you should go.

  • Dear God, I am overwhelmed. Please show me which way I should turn . . .
