A Symphony Of Praises

A Symphony of Praises

Praise the LORD from the earth,

you creatures of the ocean depths,

fire and hail, snow and clouds,

wind and weather that obey him,

mountains and all hills,

fruit trees and all cedars,

wild animals and all livestock,

small scurrying animals and birds,

kings of the earth and all people,

rulers and judges of the earth,

young men and young women,

old men and children.

Psalm 148:7-12

As naturalists go to the depths of the oceans and the unexplored jungles, they find more and more exotic creatures. Meditating on how God reigns over this amazing diversity should lead us to heartfelt praise. This prayer calls upon all of God’s creation—lions and tigers, bulls and cows, sparrows and pigeons—to sing their praises to God. It encourages the forces of nature—fire and wind, hail and snow—to join in. No man-made instrument can equal the chorus of God’s creation. Every person—both old and young, great and small—should sing praises to the Creator. He is the one who creates and sustains each of us. At every stage of life, no matter our station, he is worthy of our praise.

Take a moment to meditate on the rich diversity of God’s creation and offer him praise.

  • Dear Lord, I join with all creation in praising you . . .
