A Prayer For Spiritual Wisdom

I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.

Ephesians 1:16-17

During his stay in Rome, Paul’s chains reminded him of his limitations. Although his new converts in Ephesus needed more spiritual guidance, he couldn’t be there to guide them. During that time when he could do the least, Paul utilized the power of prayer. He began his letter to the Ephesians by revealing to them the pages of his prayer journal. His prayers had one theme: that the Ephesians might gain spiritual wisdom from God. Like good news that is spread throughout a family, a copy of his prayers was circulated among the churches around Ephesus.

Are there loved ones for whom you need to pray, asking that they will gain further insight into who God is? Better yet, do they need to know that you pray for them on a regular basis? May Paul’s heartfelt prayer lead you to pray for those you love.
