A Prayer For Holiness
A Prayer for Holiness
May the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
As we grow up, our parents teach us how to become independent, beginning with small things and going from there. By the time we’ve become adults, we start believing we can do everything on our own. That type of attitude often spills over into our spiritual lives. The Scriptures teach us to live a holy life, and we determine to become holy by our own efforts. But in today’s prayer, Paul doesn’t tell them to be holy. Instead he prays: “May the God of peace make you holy.”
In our own strength, we’re not capable of becoming holy. But Paul reassures the Thessalonians that “God will make this happen, for he who calls you is faithful.” Take to heart Paul’s message and pray that God will continue to make you holy.
- Dear Lord, keep me blameless until that day when you come again . . .
