A Plea For Help
A Plea for Help
Asa cried out to the LORD his God, “O LORD, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O LORD our God, for we trust in you alone. It is in your name that we have come against this vast horde. O LORD, you are our God; do not let mere men prevail against you!”
2 Chronicles 14:11
King Asa was one of the few kings of Judah who feared God and banned idolatry among God’s people. God rewarded him with ten years of peace, although it was not as if his kingdom’s tranquility was never threatened. When Zerah, the king of Ethiopia, assembled a huge army against him, Asa saw it as an opportunity to trust God. Because he understood it to be God’s battle, not his own, he asked God for help and then acted in God’s name, trusting the Lord because he had proven himself trustworthy at so many other critical junctures in Asa’s life.
You may face overwhelming situations in your life today. Commit those situations to God, and pray that he would use those situations to demonstrate his power and bring honor to his name.
- Help me, O Lord my God, for I trust in you alone . . .
