The Show
The Show
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!
Philippians 4:4
IT’S THE THICK OF THE BASEBALL SEASON, and the pennant races are beginning to heat up. Soon, players in the minors will be called up to the big leagues, many for the very first time. Can you imagine what that moment must be like, when they get the news that they’re going to the Show? They’ve worked a long time for this, and now it’s actually happening.
Not everyone gets to play professional baseball, but joy and satisfaction come in pursuing countless other goals. Maybe you’ve always wanted to be a writer and you finally get an article published. Or a promotion finally comes through at work. Or you want to get in better shape, and your waistline slowly but surely begins to shrink.
Most people have some sort of lifelong dream, and many may even get to experience theirs. Yet those pursuits pale in comparison to the day we’ll achieve our ultimate prize—the day we’re called home to heaven. Spending eternity with Jesus is so unimaginably wonderful that it’s hard to comprehend it.
Revelation 21:4 promises a day when God “will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.” What else could anyone ever want? Thank God for the gift of salvation that will allow you to spend eternity with Him.
BOTTOM LINE
Many people get to live out their lifelong dreams, but we all have the opportunity to land the ultimate prize—life with Jesus in heaven. Praise God!
