The Privilege Of Serving

God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.

WHEN BILLY GRAHAM HELD a crusade in Seoul, South Korea, in 1973, he preached to a live audience of approximately 1.1 million people. Wow! Most folks get nervous talking to small groups of less than ten people! Over the years, Billy Graham’s ministry reached untold millions of people around the world.

Countless other Christian servants will never be known outside their own small circles of influence. They serve others selflessly, simply doing what they feel God has called them to do.

There is one very important common denominator between a famous Christian icon such as Billy Graham and Christians who are unknown to others outside their own community. That common denominator is Jesus. No Christian servant is perfect. There’s no such thing as a “super Christian.” If someone is working effectively for God, it simply shows that God is at work in his or her life.

The grace and peace that God brings to our lives is truly amazing. Jesus says in John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” The next time you’re tempted to admire the service of other Christians, first give thanks that God is at work through them!

BOTTOM LINE

Christian service not only blesses others but also glorifies our heavenly Father.
