Evil Won’t Win The Day

Don’t fret because of evildoers; don’t envy the wicked.

Proverbs 24:19

YOU’RE DOING WHAT you know to be the right thing at work, but you don’t ever seem to get ahead. You do your job without trying to draw attention to yourself and the hard work you put in. You know God put you in this position, and you don’t want to disappoint Him by not doing your best.

And then there are some employees at work who don’t mind cutting corners and clawing their way to the top. Seemingly, they’ll stop at nothing to get ahead and be noticed. They may even go so far as to take credit for somebody else’s hard work.

It may seem as if their method is working. They’re gaining recognition and even getting promoted, and it’s hard not to get discouraged seeing all that. Here’s the thing, though. The Bible tells us not to be envious of the wicked. That means we should do our best not to worry about it when other people seem to be getting ahead by doing the wrong thing. That’s primarily God’s concern. We need to be concerned with our own integrity, knowing that God sees that, too.

The Lord knows the lengths to which others will go to achieve success. Not only does He know how they act, He is also able to put them in their place if they don’t turn from their evil ways. Sooner or later, people’s actions have consequences. So just keep doing your work as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23) and let God take care of the rest.

BOTTOM LINE

Injustice may seem to go unchecked for a while, but while striving to reflect God’s love at work, you can trust God to make things come out right in the end.
