Not In The Mood

Not In The Mood

The man who finds a wife finds a treasure, and he receives favor from the LORD.

Proverbs 18:22

ONCE UPON A TIME, early in your marriage, physical intimacy was a big part of your relationship. You didn’t need an excuse. Nowadays, you need a battle plan executed with the precision of a four-star general to have any hope of a romantic interlude.

It’s been too long, right?

“We get off work at 1700 hours, and Susie needs to be at her piano lesson by 1900 hours. You drop Bobby off at his soccer practice at 1915 hours. We need milk and a few other things, so I’ll swing by the grocery at 1930. We’ll meet at the house right after that. Ready—go!”

That’s an exaggeration, but life can seem that way sometimes.

Sometimes, no matter how hard you try, the avalanche of responsibilities you face will not allow you and your wife to be alone together in the same place at the same time. Other times, she might be dead tired and just not in the mood. You might be worn to a frazzle and not in the mood either. Who knows?

Don’t let busyness drive a wedge between the two of you. Your wife is still a treasured gift from God, and she’s still the best friend you’ve ever had, by far. Always let her know how much she means to you, with no expectation of it leading to anything else. Physical intimacy is an important part of marriage, but it’s far from the only part.

BOTTOM LINE

Physical intimacy with your wife is awesome, but when life’s distractions and responsibilities come between you, don’t let them crush your relationship.
