Live Like A Movie Trailer
Live Like A Movie Trailer
We are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
2 Corinthians 5:20
WHAT’S THE BEST PART OF going to the movies? For many of us, the trailers before the featured attraction create the most excitement. Making intriguing movie trailers is big business. Production companies are paid millions of dollars to choose the right music and pick the right scenes, so that after just a few minutes we think, Wow, I want to see that! Our first impression of a movie, based on the trailer, is often the deciding factor for whether we’ll go see it.
As Christians, we should live our lives like a movie trailer. When people look at us, they should want to see the “rest of the show” and get to know Jesus personally. Second Corinthians 5:20 reminds us that “we are Christ’s ambassadors.” God makes His appeal through us. What an amazing thought. And what an awesome responsibility we have to encourage others to be reconciled to God.
Our words and actions should attract people to our Lord, not turn them off. As Christ’s ambassadors, we must appeal to people and help draw them into God’s theater. And unlike many Hollywood features that turn out to be disappointing, Jesus never does. With God, the real show is far better than the trailer. Though trailers often contain the best scenes and funniest lines, God’s movie is compelling from beginning to end as it tells the greatest story ever told: the story of Jesus.
