Joy Unceasing

Joy Unceasing

Satisfy us each morning with your unfailing love, so we may sing for joy to the end of our lives.

Psalm 90:14

THE REMOTE-CONTROLLED monster truck was the coolest Christmas present ever! That truck could cover the entire church parking lot in no time, making jumps that boggled the imagination. The church had a waist-high sawdust pile that made for a perfect ramp. Sure, it was dirty and messy, but that’s kind of the point when it comes to boys and their toys.

The fun never seemed to last long enough, though. The truck batteries ran out. The controller batteries ran out. All those fantastic leaps and jumps over the sawdust pile and barrel rolls in the parking lot meant that truck parts broke. The nearest hobby shop was an hour away, so repairs sometimes had to wait for a week or more.

Here’s the point of all this talk about a silly remote-controlled truck: It’s temporary in nature. When it comes to a daily walk with Christ, however, the joy never ends. He is there for us twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The satisfaction to be found in a relationship with Christ was, is, and always will be fulfilling.

Most of all, eternal life is just that—eternal, never-ending, unceasing. Mere words aren’t enough to express the wonderful forever experience that heaven is going to be. No more stress. No more tears. No more pain. Just being in the presence of God will bring fullness of joy like never before.

BOTTOM LINE

Hobbies, no matter what they might be, are only temporary. Life with Christ is forever.
