Foxhole Marriage

Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife of your youth.

IF YOU’VE BEEN MARRIED TO your wife for a long, long time, there may be times when you can’t remember what life was like before she came along. You’ve been through a lot together. When the preacher at your wedding got to the part about “for better or worse,” he really knew what he was talking about, didn’t he?

You’ve struggled to get the bills paid on time, and just when you think you’ve got it made, your car needs a transmission overhaul. Together you have juggled jobs, kids, church, sports practices, and music and dance recitals. Over the years, you’ve become quite the tag team, haven’t you?

There have been plenty of times over the course of your marriage when it seemed as if you were in a foxhole together, trying desperately to fend off any number of oncoming attacks. That’s the key. When you have faced difficulties, you’ve done it together as partners and friends. You wouldn’t have it any other way, would you?

You look at her, and you still see the beautiful woman you married all those years ago; but somehow, she means even more to you now. She’s had your back and has been your counselor, prayer warrior, and most enthusiastic cheerleader. When times are tough, stop a moment and tell your wife how much she really means to you.

BOTTOM LINE

You and your wife are partners in this thing called life. Thank God today that you have a mate who stands by your side through thick and thin.
