A Time And A Place For You

DO YOU EVER WONDER HOW you got to where you are? For many of us, where we are now is nowhere near where we thought we would be geographically, relationally, professionally, or spiritually. Rarely does life go as planned. The truth is, we are not ultimately the masters of our own fate—as popular as that idea may be. (“If you can dream it, you can achieve it” is not always true.)

In light of the winding, unpredictable road you may have traveled thus far, does your life ever seem random, maybe even purposeless? How do you respond to that feeling? Do you decide to quit dreaming and planning? Or dismiss the idea that God created you for a purpose and may have you precisely where He wants you, despite all your sins, mistakes, and bad decisions? Giving in to doubt and despair is the kind of resignation that destroys hope and further clouds your purpose.

Part of the problem is that we often forget that our main purpose is to know God. “This is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth” (John 17:3). When we’re overly concerned with seeing our own plans come to fruition, we forget that knowing and loving God is what life is all about. When we get that right, everything else begins to make more sense. We start to see that every part of our journey is necessary, and that God can tell a good story with our lives despite the confusing parts.

BOTTOM LINE

Your life is not random. God is weaving together a great story with your life. Your job is to trust Him and embrace the adventure.
