Wrap It Right!
WRAP IT RIGHT!
Read Titus 2:7-14.
Claudia welcomed her friends to her birthday party. But she had to be first in every game. She grabbed the biggest piece of cake. And as her guests ate ice cream she said, “Hurry! I want to open my gifts.” After she tore open the packages, Claudia said, “I guess that’s all.”
“Wait!” cried Claudia’s little sister, Kim. “You forgot mine. I wrapped it myself!” She held out a crumpled package. When Claudia tore open the wrapping, she found a beautiful little radio. “Mommy said I could use the money Grandma gave me,” Kim said with a smile.
After everyone had left, Claudia said to her mother, “I got some neat presents—especially this radio from Kim. The wrapping was so messy, I never thought there could be anything nice inside.” Then she added, “I gave everyone one of the tracts we got in Sunday school!”
Mom said, “I don’t know if they will want to read them, because of the sloppy way you wrapped them.”
“I didn’t wrap them,” said Claudia.
“I’m talking about your poor manners,” said Mom. “You see, our lives show what Jesus really means to us. If people see that we are greedy, selfish, and unthankful, they’re not likely to take our message very seriously.”
Claudia knew she had been a poor example of a Christian. “I’ll call the kids and apologize,” she said. “Kim’s messy present taught me a good lesson!”
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Do you try to witness to your unsaved friends? You should! But remember—the way you live will determine how seriously they take your message. The gospel has power to change lives and bring people to heaven. So be sure to wrap it right!
TO MEMORIZE:
[They] must show themselves to be entirely trustworthy and good. Then they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive in every way.
