A Home For Caryn

A HOME FOR CARYN

Read John 14:1-6.

Caryn gazed longingly at the miniature castle in the Chicago museum. How she wished she had a miniature house of her own! But she knew it would be expensive, so she’d have to get along with a cardboard box as she had in the past.

Caryn’s birthday was a couple of months later, but she didn’t even dare to hope for a dollhouse. She expected she’d get something useful just as she had other years. Sure enough, in her package there was a blouse and skirt.

“Now, close your eyes until I say you may open them,” said Dad. The “birthday person” always had to do that while the cake was brought in. But this time when Dad finally said, “You may open your eyes,” there stood a beautiful house with tiny rooms to furnish.

“Dad! I love it!” Caryn squealed.

Dad’s eyes beamed with pleasure. “I’m sure I had as much fun building the house as you’ll have decorating it. And all the time I was working on it, I thought about the wonderful home Jesus is making for those who believe in Him,” added Dad. “If you think this is beautiful, just wait till you see what He’s preparing.”

“And best of all, Jesus Himself will be there,” added Mom. Caryn smiled and nodded.

HOW ABOUT YOU?

Do you enjoy the home God has provided for you here? Do you like to decorate miniature houses? That’s great, but think about the fact that Jesus is preparing a far more wonderful place for those who love Him. There will be no crying, sadness, or sickness in that perfect place. If you’re a Christian, you can look forward to your home in heaven.

TO MEMORIZE:

There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?
