In The Beehive
IN THE BEEHIVE
Read 1 Corinthians 12:18-27.
Neerja slammed the door behind her. “I was looking forward to having the lead part in our spring play, but instead I have to make props,” she complained to her father as he put on his beekeeper’s outfit. Neerja jumped up. “I want to go with you to the beehives,” she said. They exchanged smiles as Neerja, too, slipped into a “bee suit.”
At the beehive Neerja watched her father pull out a honeycomb from one of the hives. “Oh! Good!” he said. “I’m glad they’re not all queen bees in this hive, aren’t you? If they were, there wouldn’t be any workers to make the honey, and I like honey!” He checked each of the remaining honeycombs. “The Bible says that every member of the body has a job to do. In the beehive, each one needs to do his own job so the hive works efficiently. The bees can’t all be drones. They can’t all be worker bees. And they can’t all be queens. Each kind of bee is needed. It’s that way in life, too.”
“Oh, I think I know what you’re trying to say, Dad.” Neerja’s eyes sparkled. “You’re trying to tell me that making props is just as important as having the lead part. Without props you can’t have a good play.”
Dad hugged Neerja. “Exactly.”
“Then I’ll be a bu-z-z-zy bee making props!” Neerja giggled as she slid her hand into Dad’s.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
Are you content with what God has given you to do? Or do you sometimes wish for more important jobs? God says each one is needed. He doesn’t list any job as greater than another. He just asks you to do your best in whatever job you are given. Do whatever you do as if you’re doing it for the Lord.

Our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it.
