FOOTPRINTS IN THE SNOW
Read 1 Timothy 4:12-16.
“I’ve got bad news for you,” announced Mom one morning. Her eyes were twinkling. “I was listening to the radio, and they’re canceling school for the day. The roads are all blocked.”
“Oh, cool!” squealed Rachel. “Now we can play in the snow. Come on, Derek!” But after breakfast, it started to storm even harder, and the children had to stay in the house.
The next morning there was still no school, although the blizzard had stopped. Soon Rachel and Derek were making snow angels, jumping in the drifts, and having a snowball fight. Then they decided to go to an empty lot, where several children were playing in the snowdrifts.
“Rachel! I play too,” they heard shortly after arriving at the lot.
“Oh no!” groaned Rachel. There was Nicole, their neighbor, who was only three. “She must have followed us. We’ll have to take her back home.” When they arrived at Nicole’s home, they found her mother looking for her.
Nicole’s mother sighed. “How did you know your friends were in the empty lot, Nicole?” she asked.
“I stepped in their steps in the snow,” Nicole said, giggling.
That night Derek and Rachel told their parents about Nicole following them. Dad said, “You know, Christians are also to be examples that others can follow. Nicole followed your footsteps in the snow, but others will follow your footsteps as Christians.”
“I get it,” Derek said.
“Me, too,” nodded Rachel. “I’m going to try to be a good example.”
HOW ABOUT YOU?
What kind of an example are you setting for others to follow? If you’re always late or if you tell lies, someone will notice. If you’re helpful and always tell the truth, someone will notice that, too. Ask God to help you set the right example.
TO MEMORIZE:
And you yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind.
Titus 2:7
