Read 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13.
“Look at all the people!” exclaimed Andy.
“Yes,” replied Dad. “This parade had better be good, or I’ll wish I’d stayed home.” He inched forward with the traffic. “A lot of cars are turning here,” he added. “Maybe they know of a place to park.” He made a right turn, following the car in front of him. But instead of finding a place to park, they found themselves on a ramp leading to a freeway. “Oh no,” groaned Dad. “I never saw the sign for the interstate!” He scowled at the car ahead of him. “Thanks a lot, mister,” he growled.
Mom laughed. “Oh, so it’s his fault?”
“What about the car behind us?” asked Andy. “It followed too. Is that your fault?”
“No,” Dad said. “They should have watched where they were going.”
“Sounds like someone else I know,” Mom observed, looking at Andy.
Andy blushed. Just the night before he had excused his rowdy behavior at a family gathering by saying that everybody else was doing the same thing. He was only following the example of some older cousins. At the same time he had insisted that he wasn’t responsible for the way his little sister had copied his actions.
“At times we all tend to forget that God has given each of us a brain. He intends for us to use it instead of blindly following the crowd,” said Dad. “On the other hand, He expects us to live in such a way that others may follow us.”
HOW ABOUT YOU?
God gave you a brain. Are you using it to think for yourself? Are you being a good example to others? Others are watching you. Lead them in the right way.
TO MEMORIZE:
Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.
1 Timothy 4:12
