A Welcome Message
A WELCOME MESSAGE
Read 2 Timothy 3:14-17.
“Grandma, I’m glad Mom and Dad went to that conference and let me stay with you. It will be a vacation for me,” Megan said with a smile.
That morning Grandma and Megan played board games. For lunch they had ham sandwiches and chips. Then Grandma took out her Bible.
“This is when I usually have my daily Bible reading,” she said. “I thought we could take turns reading to each other.”
“Oh, Grandma, I’m on vacation,” said Megan. “I just want to have fun.” Grandma looked sad, but she let Megan run outside and climb the apple tree.
As Megan got ready for bed that night, she began thinking of her parents and feeling a little lonely. “I wish Mom and Dad were here to tuck me in,” she told Grandma.
Grandma smiled and said, “Your parents knew you’d be lonesome. They asked me to give you this.” She pulled a note from her pocket. Megan read the note her parents had left her. Then she felt much better.
“Some people are so important to us that we never want to take a vacation from them. Aren’t you glad your parents left that message for you?” Grandma asked. Megan nodded. “Someone else had a message for you today, but you wanted to take a vacation from Him,” added Grandma.
Megan knew Grandma was talking about God. As she thought about it, she knew she had missed reading about His love today. “Grandma, can we read your Bible together before I go to sleep?” she asked.
HOW ABOUT YOU?
When you’re on vacation, do you also take a vacation from God’s Word? You sometimes need a rest from your normal routine, but you need to hear from God every day no matter where you are. Be sure to give Him an opportunity to speak to you through His Word—with no vacations.
