I Heard It on the Radio

WHEN YOU’RE TIRED, just absolutely worn out with the world, where do you go for your “Gatorade”? How do you nourish yourself to move on when life’s challenges just won’t stop chasing you?

When you’re confused and you can’t see the forest for the trees, what source of truth clears your vision? How do you gain a new perspective so you can look at the situation holistically rather than microscopically?

And last, when your bucket has a hole in it and your self-confidence is leaking out all over the kitchen floor, where do you get the goo of encouragement to plug the leak? How do you mend your broken spirit?

Like some of you, I often turn to books to provide new perspective and insight; we are fortunate to have at our disposal hundreds if not thousands of authors and motivational writers who can help us see old circumstances with new eyes.

Like many of you, I also turn to God for guidance and wisdom. My Christian faith and wise clergy provide me not only with the direction I need when I’m confused, but with peace and hope to carry on when I’ve convinced myself I can’t.

And, like you, I often look to my girlfriends to provide me with direction and encouragement (which usually comes with a reality check and a “thump upside my head”).

But sometimes I turn on the radio.
