The Best Advice Comes From A Great Teacher

The Best Advice Comes From A Great Teacher

Teach me how to live, O LORD. Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me. Psalm 27:11

My daughter Kristen and her husband, David, were both brilliant students. Before their first child was born, they read as much as they could about how to take care of a baby. But they were also wise and willing to take counsel from those who had been down the parenting path before them. As a mother of four, my wife, Karen, knew a few tricks she could pass on to Kristen. And Kristen knew that her mother was a trustworthy teacher.

When it comes to caring for our health, it’s easy to be deceived by the promises of a new diet or a medication that guarantees extraordinary results. A wise doctor can help us check out the claims and discern whether the treatment is safe or whether it may have unintended or harmful side effects.

Things that are bad for us don’t always start out looking bad. They can sometimes be manipulated and falsely advertised as something that is good for us. Over the years, we’ve learned that soft drinks, tobacco, human growth hormone, and weight loss pills, for example, fall into this category. A good doctor should always take time to answer questions so that patients can be assured that the prescribed treatments will help them—not only to get better temporarily, but also to live better over the long term.

We are all students who need help to live our lives to the fullest. We need someone who has gone before us and has the knowledge to show us the right path to take. Who better to guide us through life than our Creator?

There are many diversions that can lead us away from God and a healthy way of living. Satan is a deceiver, and he tries to attack us from all angles. But God knows the right path for us to take, and he loves us enough to guide us. When we trust him to lead us, he will not lead us astray, and he will protect us from our enemies.
