God Reveals His Ultimate Plan
God Reveals His Ultimate Plan
Q: To whom did God reveal the things written about in the book of Revelation?
- a. Jesus
- b. Paul
- c. John
The author of the book of Revelation was first a fisherman, then one of the 12 disciples. After Jesus was resurrected and he returned to heaven, the author of Revelation was one of the original 12 apostles (the new name given to disciples after Jesus’ ascension to heaven). In fact, tradition says he was the only original apostle who was not killed for his faith. The Romans exiled him to the island of Patmos in the Aegean Sea for preaching about Jesus.
So, who is the mystery author of Revelation? John. In addition to Revelation, the apostle John also wrote the Gospel of John, and 1 John, 2 John, and 3 John. At the beginning of Revelation, John explains that a voice told him to write down the things he saw in a vision and then send his account to seven churches.
First God gave John a specific message for each of the seven churches telling them what they were doing well and what they needed to change. After that, God showed John things that will happen in the future. People will become more evil, and one man will take over as the leader of the whole world. God will send different judgments to the unbelievers on earth, and Christians will be taken up to heaven. In the end Satan will lose, and Jesus will win.

The book of Revelation may seem hard to read, but it’s an important book because it shows that Jesus will triumph over evil and we will be part of his Kingdom forever. Even though Revelation talks of many judgments, it’s a book of hope for those who believe.
